Ears Ringing

Last Thursday I enjoyed a fun girls' night out. A friend received comp tickets to see the Newsboys in concert, and I was fortunate to join her for dinner and the concert. 9th row, center section tickets -- totally awesome! You know they're great tickets when the usher personally shows you to your seat....

They put on an amazing show! It's so great to hear the songs I enjoy on the radio, live, and sung at times just 8 feet from me! When the lead singer came out on the walkway, we were so close! And thus, surrounded by such a high octane concert, my ears rang for almost 2 days after the concert!!

Their lead singer recited some scripture that was what I really needed to hear that night, and it gave me perspective, especially during some recent challenging times as a parent. The day before I went to the concert, I wrote about God's understanding. And here it hit me -- His understanding NO ONE can fathom! I hope you enjoy this as much as I did:

Isa 40:28
Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
Isa 40:29
He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Isa 40:30
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
Isa 40:31
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

They also sang "He Reigns," which totally reminds me of God's awesome provision in leading us to our current church. Our first visit to the church, the choir, dressed casually in Aloha wear, came into the church singing this in full force, with choir members standing in all areas of the sanctuary, and I felt God's presence that day assuring me that His power was indeed present in this church. Every time I hear this song, I recall the feeling of God's clear communication to us that we had found what we had asked for: a new church home.

It’s the song of the redeemed
Rising from the African plain
It’s the song of the forgiven
Drowning out the Amazon rain
The song of Asian believers
Filled with God’s holy fire
It’s every tribe, every tongue, every nation
A love song born of a grateful choir

It’s all God’s children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns,
He reigns
It’s all God’s children singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns

Let it rise about the four winds
Caught up in the heavenly sound
Let praises echo from the towers of cathedrals
To the faithful gathered underground
Of all the songs sung from the dawn of creation
Some were meant to persist
Of all the bells rung from a thousand steeples
None rings truer than this

And all the powers of darkness
Tremble at what they’ve just heard
‘Cause all the powers of darkness
Can’t drown out a single word

When all God’s children sing out
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
All God’s people singing
Glory, glory, hallelujah
He reigns, He reigns
